  • Paddle for FUN!
The best part of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is having fun! Plan a day or weekend trip with friends or family and explore a new body of water. Mom, Dad and the kids can easily master SUP’ing, and you can even bring your dog along for the ride.
  • Anyone can paddleboard
People of all ages and fitness levels are trying paddleboarding and loving it, and are including stand-up paddleboarding in their recreation and exercise routines. It should only take first-timers about an hour to feel confident on a paddleboard. Bring along your child or pet to enjoy the experience. Don't want to stand? No problem! You can sit forwards or backwards and paddle, use it like a kayak, lay prone and use your arms, kneel and paddle... or lay back, relax and enjoy some sun!
  • Adventures in paddling
Taking up a new outdoor hobby means you will be adventuring to new destinations, and one of the greatest perks of paddleboarding is that you can do it wherever there is a body of water. You can SUP on lakes, rivers, ocean, bays, and harbors. With the OctaSUP boards stowed away in the included backpack, you can hike with your board, or check it as baggage during your flight to accompany you on your travels. Pump it up and OctaSUP!
  • Exercise and Fitness
Paddleboarding is one of the best full-body workouts! SUP'ing can burn more calories in an hour than most sports because of the combination of strength, cardio, balance, and endurance. It strengthens core muscles as well as arms, legs and all the muscles of the back, chest and shoulders. SUP’ing can burn anywhere from about 300 to more than 1,100 calories in one hour, with casual paddling torching 300-400 calories per hour, and, on the other end of spectrum, SUP racers may burn anywhere from 700 to over 1,100 calories per hour. Many people are SUP'ing as a platform to practice pilates and yoga on the water. Whether you are surfing, racing or recreational paddling, you will get in shape in no time!
  • Paddle away your stress
Chronic stress comes along with a host of nasty side effects that can wreak havoc on our health, but exercise has the power to help us de-stress and counteract the negative effects of feeling over-pressured. For this reason, including a form of exercise that truly helps you feel at peace is an important part of any fitness routine and the calming nature of paddling absolutely exudes this quality. Add to all of that, the soothing sounds as you glide through the water, the sensation of actually walking on water, and the rhythm of your stroke... and your stress starts to melt away.
  • Get outdoors and connect with nature
Paddleboarding puts you right out there to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature. With the water under your feet you’ll find that you have the perfect viewpoint to observe amazing creatures swimming and moving about below you. You’ll be able to see wildlife, witness a serene sunrise, or marvel at a breathtaking sunset. Whether you are on a solo, family, or social paddle, SUP'ing connects you with your natural surroundings. Being out on the water is calming, and engaging with nature can have a positive effect on your mental health and attitude. Gliding across the water gives you a sense of freedom and inspiration. Additionally, getting some extra vitamin D from the sun is good for you, too!
  • Cardio, Strength & Core"
This may not look like a sport that could get your heart rate up, but if you move swiftly enough a SUP ride can serve as a cardio workout along with strength training as your core and legs are contracted to maintain balance, and your upper body maneuvers the paddle to propel you forward. SUP'ing puts nearly every single muscle in your body to work, but one area that’s targeted the most while you’re out on the water is your core. Maintaining your balance requires constant engagement of your core and abdominal muscles, and along with the muscles in your upper body, they’ll contract as you paddle from side to side.
  • Improves balance
Stand-up paddleboarding requires you to stand upright on the board, which requires a lot of core stability and leg strength to maintain balance. Because of the balance required, leg muscles will be hard at work attempting to stabilize your center of gravity, while the arms, back and shoulders are used to propel the paddleboard in the water. The core, back and abdominal muscles are constantly at work to maintain your balance. The balance skills you’ll gain from paddleboarding are incomparable to almost any other sport or activity, which not only helps you have a good balance while paddling but increases your focus and balance in day-to-day activities, as well.
  • Paddle your way to inner peace
It’s a known fact that looking at large bodies of water calms the human soul. The art of paddling along a body of water and soaking in the natural surroundings is meditative. A SUP session can be anything you make of it. It can be a fun way to let loose with friends or it could be a solo paddle to relax the mind and forget the problems you have on land. One step on the paddleboard is one step closer to inner peace.
  • Cross training for all athletes
Since SUP'ing engages nearly every muscle in the body, it makes a great cross training option for almost any type of athlete. It challenges both aerobic and muscular fitness, as well as balance and stability, therefor it can help improve sport-specific performance for many other types of activities.

"Thanks go out to Shaun and his dedication to my health and well-being. Not only is he a great fitness instructor, he is also very knowledgeable in diet and proper eating. Our work out days typically begin with how my past few days have been, what I have eaten, if I have completed any exercise and how my body feels. Each week I am surprised at how he challenges me to push harder and be better, while still remaining supportive and encouraging. Whether you are just starting to work out or a full-fledged gym monkey – Shaun can take you to the next level in your fitness and health routine!"
